OP Sequence:

OP: 「もってけ!セーラーふく」 (Motteke! Sailor Fuku) by 平野綾, 加藤英美里, 福原香織, 遠藤綾 (Hirano Aya, Katou Emiru, Fukuhara Kaori, Endo Aya)
Episode 5 Scenes:

Lucky Star is one of those random comedy anime. However, there is only randomness and not enough comedy. The comedy is not laugh out loud or laughing my ass off funny, no, its only a giggle. Occasionally there is a few big laughs but not throughout the entire episode, unlike Hayate no Gotoku! (Read the review here on this blog written by Kisaragi). So whats great about this anime? Nothing in particular except for Konata who is an uber otaku. She literally watches anime, plays video games, and even plays MMO. What MMO? I’m hoping some along the lines of Final Fantasy XI since that seems to be a popular choice in Japan unless there are others.

In one episode she plays MMO with her teacher and her teacher started to ask if she did her homework at all during the summer break. Seems like a bad choice to be playing an MMO with your teacher. So far only 9 episodes are out but only 8 are currently subbed. There isn’t much story to this, it is just a bunch of randomness throughout all the episodes and nothing seems connected. Probably similar to Azumanga Daioh where the last episode is everyone graduates. Seeing most of KyoAni’s anime like Kanon 2006 and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, the production was pretty bad on this. I mean the graphics was terrific in Kanon 2006 and Haruhi but in this one, the original of the manga made them all chibi like which couldn’t really let KyoAni produce something more spectacular.

Plot Summary: Portrays the lives of several school girls attending a Japanese high school with a very loose humor tone. The main heroine is Konata Izumi, an athletic and intelligent girl who, despite these attributes, is not in a sports club, and her grades remain low. Her laziness at school is due to her love for anime and video games, and is not interested in much else. The serialization began with the four main characters in their first year of high school: Konata Izumi, Kagami Hiiragi, Tsukasa Hiiragi, and Miyuki Takara. As the story progresses, they move onto their second and third year.

Another thing I hate about this anime is that the episodes really only last 18 minutes long, the last 3 minutes is this program called Lucky Channel which talks about random crap and I don’t really watch it, I usually just skip it and go on the next episode or something. There is no ED for this anime which sucks but the OP is pretty good with the dance similar to 「ハレ晴レユカイ」 ( Hare Hare Yukai).
