Episode 1 Scenes:
This is the first feature for this blog. Before we get to the preview, allow me to explain what a feature is on this blog. When an anime is being labeled as a feature, we usually give it a more attention than most anime found in Anime List page. This only happens when our writers are highly anticipating a title all together. This allows us to give it a lot more attention and we will be writing a lot about the feature, be it an episode preview, or news related to the series such as when the dvd or maxi single is coming out. To sum up, a feature is just an anime we will be giving a lot of attention to on this blog. CLANNAD will be our first.
As a fan of KEY’s work such as AIR TV or Kanon, CLANNAD is probably one of their work that I was most excited for adapting into an anime. Originally, CLANNAD is a visual novel and a wonderful one at that. Later they adapted it into a movie which only premiered in theaters in Japan on September 2007. Now, a TV series has been aired on 10.04.07. Whats similar to all KEY’s work is the sad stories that comes with their visual novels. AIR had Misuzu who is reliving a curse, Kanon had every girls missing throughout the whole thing, and now CLANNAD.
In the first episode, Tomoya went to meet up with Nagisa to have lunch with her. Tomoya tries to engage her by talking to her but Nagisa tells him that she’s eating lunch right now. Nagisa asks if Tomoya likes this school, Tomoya says he doesn’t like it particularly but Nagisa loves the school. However, due to something that happened to Nagisa, she had to stay away from school for a long period and she now have very few friends and teachers to talk to. Tomoya tells Nagisa if she always look so sad she will never make any friends and tells her to wave and smile at the two girls up on the roof of the school. They didn’t notice and walked away.
Later a bike gang shows up on the soccer field, Nagisa and Tomoya went to check out whats going on. A new transfer student, Tomoyo went and confronted the bike gang and well… she kicked their asses. After all this fiasco, its end of the day and Tomoya and Nagisa walked home together. Nagisa told Tomoya that her family’s bakery is in front of the park and told him to come any time. Tomoya visited the bakery and Nagisa’s mom, Sanae, asked Tomoya to try her new creation, Rice cracker bread. Tomoya told it straight and said it was bad bread, it is too difficult to eat. Obviously Tomoya have no social skill when it comes to talking to girls, thus making Sanae cry when she heard the truth.
After dinner with Nagisa’s family, Tomoya went home and saw his dad in the corner sleeping or possibly drunk. In a rage, Tomoya ran out and started running down the street. He suddenly sees Nagisa with a light shining on her and she asked “would you like me to take you? To a place in this city where wishes come true.”
Plot Summary: Tomoya Okazaki is a third year student labelled as a delinquent. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and Tomoya finds that his life is about to change. He starts to have dreams of a bleak world and meets a girl who has the ability to fuse junk together in order to create things, and doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world and follows around the girl, the only two existences who are “alive.”
I think we all know which is the best. OP without a doubt is the best. I mean the opening sequence is freaking awesome, very visual novel-esque. The colors and visual of the little girl running in the field was just beautiful. Don’t forgot who sings the opening, thats right, eufonius. eufonius is one of my favorite artist. 「メグメル〠is by far the best song I have ever heard from them. Just a little clarification about the OP song. Although the ending credits say its 「メグメル ~cuckool mix 2007~〠the alternate title for this song is 「メグメル ~frequency⇒e Ver.～〠which was used in the CLANNAD Movie. The Maxi Single for 「メグメル ~frequency⇒e Ver.～〠is out and can be found on Tokyo Toshokan.
